For 2009, FDMC joins the motoring world in celebrating the 50th year, since the launch of the immortal BMC Mini. In that time, tens of thousands of enthusiasts have enjoyed what this little car can do, in every imaginable kind of motorsport. And in club level events, including ours, it's still winning, 50 years later - thank you, Sir Alec!
FDMC's 50th Anniversary event combines Minis and motorsport, with Mini owners and clubs invited to bring their cars to a special static display area in our Summer Solo autosolo, at Aldershot on Sunday July 12th. With awards for categories like Best Original Mini, and Best Customised Mini, can we get 50 Minis together for the day - as well as those which will be competing in the event? We hope so; come along then to find out, and for more details, contact Paul Prescott, on 01252 677736. Three more of FDMC's regular Mini competitors, shown here, are Martin Prescott with his white 998, father Paul with his red 1300, and Sam Aldcroft with his green 1400 car.
And four from the archives: 1966 season works rally cars, in the Monte Carlo snow and the RAC forests; Harry Ratcliffe, in a BVRT prepared Cooper S, at Silverstone; and Richard Longman, twice British saloon car champion with his 1275 GT.
